A machete is a type of knife capable of performing more robust and agile activities, being excellent for agriculture or for those who enjoy venturing into nature. For this reason, it is a favorite among hikers, campers, and fishermen.

It is easy to use and must have good quality steel to be more durable. The types of machetes vary in size, cutting efficiency, and strategic design, so it is important to evaluate their peculiarities.

Today, on the CIMO blog, we will detail the 5 main types of machetes and their most striking characteristics. This way, you can choose the ideal model that best suits you!

1. Bushcraft Machete

The bushcraft machete model is ideal for those who enjoy outdoor adventures and being in contact with nature, as it makes it easy to cut branches, clear paths on trails, or prune trees, being versatile and resistant machetes.

As this equipment is linked to survival scenarios, it has specific characteristics, such as a high-quality blade to ensure the durability and resistance that the situation demands. Furthermore, it is important that the handle is comfortable to allow for safe and easy ergonomics, being made of wood in most cases.

This type of machete is widely used by bushcraft enthusiasts who need to remain in nature, being a fundamental item for adventure.

2. Agro Machete

The agro machete, also known as a bush machete, is extremely versatile, being suitable for a wide variety of uses, especially in rural environments.

It features a longer blade that allows for pruning tall grass and cutting shrubs, and has a practically straight design along its entire length, with the exception of a small curve near the tip.

Another important point is that the handle can be made of either wood or aluminum, adapting to different situations, whether for fishing or hunting. The agro machete can also be useful for gardening and other household tasks.

3. Rambo Machete

As the name suggests, this model was inspired by the Rambo movie, where actor Sylvester Stallone uses it. It is a coveted item for many cutlery lovers, as, besides its design being associated with a warrior, it offers durability and resistance for various uses.

Typically, the model is used for camping, hunting or fishing activities, and even for cutting meat. The Rambo machete handle is usually covered with a leather strip to facilitate and ensure safety during handling. It may also have a hole in the pommel to attach a cord for hanging the utensil.

4. Kukri Machete

The Kukri machete originates from the Nepali people, officially used by their Army, the Gurkhas. It is a robust, firm, and strong model, and its most striking feature is its curved blade at the tip to ensure greater cutting precision.

Furthermore, it is a machete for those who aim to explore nature and practice survivalism, due to its reliability and resistance, being suitable for trails, camping, and fishing. Its handle can be made of either wood or stainless steel, and some models feature a guard for greater hand safety when handling the instrument.

5. Butterfly Machete

This model was created for combat. The differential of the butterfly machete is that it has two counter-clockwise handles that form the complete handle when they join and connect at the base.

Another point is that its blades fold and allow for practical opening, being lightweight and easy to carry, in addition to having various designs. It was designed to be used with the agility and skill that martial arts demand.

Its structure, in general, is entirely made of stainless steel, but there are variations that have rubberized handles to facilitate handling, so it will depend on the individual mastery of the machete holder.

Know what every machete must have!

Machetes are robust and ensure the necessary durability for the activities to be performed. Their functions range from cutting wood to hiking and hunting. They have a longer blade length than knives and pocket knives, which gives them unique characteristics for their use. Furthermore, they are powerful and are linked to adventures and survival, therefore, they prioritize resistance rather than cutting precision.

Machete handles can be made of wood, aluminum, or steel, and some models have a guard to increase safety during use. Another point is that some come with a sheath to be kept properly, maintaining their good efficiency for longer.
