We always address the topic of camping here on our blog, after all, we know how much our audience loves to venture into nature, feel free, and overcome challenges with every camping trip. With that in mind, we decided to bring more camping tips for those who love adrenaline. Today, you will discover 8 facts you need to know before venturing into the radical places you choose to camp.

Let's get to the 8 facts to consider!

Before heading out to camp, it is indeed necessary to pay attention to several factors that will be decisive for you to have a good camping experience, especially if you are still somewhat inexperienced in the matter. So, grab your notebook to write down these tips:

  1. Camping at a campsite is very different from camping in the wilderness

This fact is decisive when choosing where you want to camp, as there are special campsites for tourists, with complete infrastructure to provide more support and comfort to adventurers. In most specialized campsites that welcome tourists, you will have bathrooms, a kitchen, lighting, and sometimes even a hammock to relax in.

When we talk about camping in the wild, things get more serious, as none of these comforts exist. Bathrooms are holes you'll dig behind bushes, the kitchen will be a campfire you'll use to roast food you brought or fish you caught. Lighting will come from flashlights and the fire you'll need to make.

I think these factors alone show that camping at a campsite and in the wild are very different activities, aren't they? So, it's very valuable to consider all these factors to decide where you want to camp. If you've never camped or are still inexperienced, it's recommended that you start with a tourist campsite to gain some experience before jumping into an adventure in the wild.

  1. Know your limits, because camping is not staying in a hotel

This tip is closely linked to the previous one, as you can see, camping requires experience. In addition, you need to be a detached person, meaning you don't care so much about your own comfort, otherwise, it's better to choose a hotel to stay in.

Therefore, know your limits and understand how far you are capable of going, after all, camping is not for everyone!

Be prepared to exert yourself at times

Following up on the previous topic, since we're talking about limits, know that there will be several moments in the adventure where you will need to have physical preparation for everything to go well.

You'll need to conquer trails carrying backpacks, tents, equipment, and supplies for the days you plan to camp, which means you need good physical conditioning. In addition, you'll need to search for firewood to build a fire, for example. Therefore, there's no escaping it, you'll use your physical strength at various times.

  1. Be prepared to improvise, if necessary

Even if you have a detailed plan for everything to go as you expect on your camping trip, you'll need to improvise, and here, anything goes.

Use all your creativity to overcome the barriers and obstacles that will arise during your camping period. You may need to know how to make primitive fire, as well as how to build a barrier against dangers around your tent or even have effective methods to scare away insects at night so you can sleep peacefully. In other words, creativity and improvisation are fundamental when camping.

  1. Have a list of essential camping equipment

Making a list of all the equipment you'll need to camp peacefully is essential before setting off and forgetting anything that could be crucial.

That is, a flashlight, a lighter, a good pocket knife, a sturdy machete, or a professional knife are items that will make all the difference at this time. As well as being dressed in appropriate clothing, wearing a cap, sunscreen, and having a good repellent to apply in the late afternoon, when insects begin to appear in large numbers.

  1. Bring enough food and water for the days you'll be camping

Always remember to have the necessary provisions for all the days you will be camping, especially if you are camping in the wilderness. Generally, when we go camping in the jungle, on a mountain, or by a river, the camping period is shorter, averaging 2 or 3 days, as you can't carry enough food and water for long periods. The weight increases considerably, and after a few days, you start to miss your shower and your bed.

Therefore, carefully calculate the amount of water and food for the entire group going camping, to ensure there's enough, especially if there's no nearby place to turn to in case of emergency.

  1. Carefully analyze the camping site, keeping in mind that the weather can change at any moment

Carefully analyze the spot where you will pitch your tent to stay, as this is also fundamental for everything to go well during a camping trip. For example, it is never advisable to pitch a tent on steep terrain, because if it rains, the water can drain towards your tent.

The ideal is always to evaluate the terrain where you will set up; the flatter and firmer the ground, the better. If there are grassy areas and other bare ones, prefer the grassy areas, as they provide more stability for pitching the tent. Also, observe if there is a large tree with wide leaves anywhere on the terrain. If there is, prefer to pitch your tent under these trees, because if it rains, you will be a little more protected due to the tree leaves.

Remember also to have tarps available, to place both above and below your tent; this will also help a lot in case of rain during the camping trip.

Finally, if you are camping on beaches, know that on some beaches in Brazil it is not allowed to camp on the sand by the sea, so the local police may ask you to leave. Remember to check this issue before setting up camp.

  1. Don't complain about difficulties and live every moment uniquely

Our last tip for a successful camping trip is: Don't keep complaining! To enjoy a good camping experience, open your mind, forget all your problems, and don't mind facing difficulties.

Regardless of the location you choose to camp, whether at a campsite or in the wilderness, live each moment intensely and with an open heart. This attitude will certainly make all the difference in your experience.

Camping is good for the body and soul, we have fun, laugh, appreciate nature, and sleep under the moonlight and stars. Therefore, it is undoubtedly a unique experience!
